Come along for a and see what it's all about! for details

Whitehill Sub-Aqua Club was formed in June of 1994.  The word was put out in the local paper and swimming pool that a dive club was in the making, and any one interested should come on down.  Probably out of curiosity or a longing desire to dive, the first training sessions started and the club was "under way".  In the early days, there was just a Diving Officer, a Dive Leader and the assistance of an Advanced Instructor from the Alton Dive Club, (and of lots of people to train).  Like most clubs, we started without any kind of club house, and just met every week at the local pool to have lectures and pool sessions.  The club had about 25 initial members and through a loss of about 10 due to natural wastage in the first few months, the "core" of the club was born.  The majority of those members are still in the club today.

WSAC has now evolved over the years and many members now involve their families, to which there are young club members that have snorkelling status, but will eventually progress to scuba diving when they're old enough.

Unlike other clubs, we have a vast range of equipment at our disposal including our Rigid Inflatable Boat (rib), which means there is always room for club members wanting to dive out at sea. We also have our own compressor and diving Equipment can be provided free up to the first qualification of Ocean Diver, thereafter can be hired.

After learning to dive within the club, there are always opportunities to put your new found skills to use, as there is at least one major expedition (holiday) per year.  The club will also visit inland sites for sheltered training or progression dives. The Dive Officer will post timetables such as training and open water trip, regularly to the Dive Calendar and Events section.

The British Sub-Aqua Club

The British Sub-Aqua Club (BSAC) was formed in 1953 to promote under water sport, exploration and safety to the highest standards, and is recognized as the Governing body for the sport of under water swimming in the UK.

In 1953 the BSAC had around 100 members. But membership has grown considerably since then, and today the BSAC is believed to be one of the largest scuba diving clubs in the world, with around 45,000 members world wide.

BSAC Branches can be found throughout the World, but the majority are naturally located in the UK. Branches, like Whitehill Sub-Aqua Club, are autonomous groups of BSAC members who organise and promote diving activities in their area.

Branches often hold weekly meetings, and pool training sessions, and arrange diving courses and trips to help branch members develop their diving skills.

Training at BSAC branches is organized and supervised by qualified instructors working to a BSAC training programme designed to build confidence and self-reliance, whilst keeping safety uppermost.

BSAC members receive a monthly copy of
Dive magazine, and also benefit from generous BSAC Third Party Insurance cover when diving.

Where to find us

The Bordon and Oakhanger Social Club (BOSC) offers an excellent location for Whitehill Sub-Aqua Club.  On offer is the bar (perhaps the most important item), use of the gym for lectures and training activities.  The Club also has a wide range of other activities going on, such as Archery, Petonque to name but a few.  Clubs are encouraged to integrate, and this is an excellent way to meet new people, expand our own club and maybe become involved in other activities.  For Christmas dinners, birthday parties and the like, this is an excellent venue.

We meet every Thursday from 8.00pm onwards where lectures can take place and then we use a Local pool in Petersfield on Saturdays from 7.00pm for in-water training.
